We are still overwhelmed by all the experiences of this years Femme Rebellion Fest. Again it have been four days full of shared utopia with mutual support and empowerment, with deeply impressive bands and people celebrating our own positive alternative life.
So many awesome people came together to make this possible: the crews of Unordnungsamt in Kalbe (Milde), of Subterrain at Sandershaus in Kassel, Flintapunx and Altes Sportamt Bremen and the people that organized the Femme Rebellion Fest at Centro Sociale in Hamburg, the activists that took care of technics, bar, merchandise, catering, at the door and the awareness teams, the incredible great people from Solibus and last but not least the wonderful musicians of Trholz from Toulouse, Emaskülatör from Ankara, Shitshow from Hamburg, Faul from Galicia and DJ Team Eat Lipstick from Berlin. Without these people and their support Femme Rebellion Fest wouldn't exist and there would have been no tour. Femme Rebellion Fest also wouldn't exist without the people, that contributed to the crowdfunding campaign, with private donations or with their will to pay an appropriate entrance for this project and the four amazing concerts. We are incredibly happy and grateful for this community and the shared solidarity and fascination!
Nevertheless there were also two aspects and experiences that left us a bit sad and worried. We couldn't manage to organize all four concerts in a way that nobody involved had to go beyond their own boundaries. A lot of things, mainly related to classical care work issues, did (again) remain pending on very few persons. Like this the joy and happiness about the four great and intensive days were diminished by exhaustion and also some frustration. We just do need a lot more people that are willing to put their hands on and help to make such alternative spaces and encounters possible! Also the coolest party does make a lot of dirt and costs money...
Which leads us to the second point. Unfortunately, this year we couldn't collect enough money to give an appropriate amount of money to the bands after paying all the bills for instruments, catering, promotion and travel expenses for all bands (which like everything in the last years also increased a lot). It is the musicians that make the Femme Rebellion Fest possible in the first place, that give us so much energy with their empowering model, but also with their everyday struggle for safe spaces for creativity and positive counterculture. Like this they offer us moments of escape and breathing freely to help create a better world. Those are the musicians we want to support with the Femme Rebellion Fest and after all, why we do all this.
